Gators Swim to KHSAA Regionals
January 22, 2018
Practices and swim meets are all becoming critical moments for Greenwood High School swim team as the KHSAA Region Two Championship meet comes into view. All the hours of hard work and determination spent in the pool, soon to show itself off.
The 2017-18 swim season started this past October. The team has now made it through more than half of the season’s practices, meets, and much more. With seven of the swim meets down in the books, they have seen the opposing competition and prepared themselves to win.
Allison Zinobile is a sophomore and has been an important part of the team in the past years. She has had lots of experience and has high hopes for Greenwood this year.
“I think the girls have a great shot at winning with several individual swims and relays making it in the top 3, if not top 8,” she said.
Claudia Witcher, a junior, also plays a big role on the girl’s team. She tends to do very well and participates in all of the championship meets.
“The team has worked hard this season, and keeping that in mind, I think we will be successful at regionals. It’s a lot about how much effort you put in and fortunately, Greenwood swimmers display plenty of that. I am confident in my team and their abilities.”
Another one of Greenwood’s swimmers is Logan Flesher. He is also a junior and has been swimming for many years. He earns a lot of points for the boys at the meets and he hopes to do the same in the future.
“I’m hyped for Region and I’m just going to swim as fast I can and motivate people to swim fast too.”
The coaches and athletes have both put in great loads of effort and they hope to see it all pay off in the end.
