The Key to Life
May 15, 2017
One of our new clubs at Greenwood High School is Key Club. Key Club is an international student-led organization which provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership. Key Club International is the high school organization sponsored by Kiwanis International. One of their main missions is to serve the children of the world.
The founder of the Greenwood Key Club and parent adviser is Sue Fleschner. This past year had Mr. Davis as the faculty adviser and next year Mrs. Jordan will be taking over that position. They did many projects throughout the year but most recently hosted a book drive. There was a drop off box in the library to where students and teachers could donate new or used books.
The books donated were later collected and sorted by the members of the club. Overall 800 books were collected. Another donation was bags by Graves Gilbert for the books to go in when being distributed to the schools. The members of the club sorted books into packages to distribute to the librarians and family resource coordinators at our four feeder schools: Briarwood, Alvaton, Cumberland Trace, and Natcher. The individual schools will determine the best way to distribute to students and staff.
The club is excited for this next school year and hope more people will join at club rush in the fall. Visit the clubs official website for more information on the details of the club.
