Farlo
Week of 3/28/16
Farlo is a good-spirited guy who just needs a little TLC.
This 1-year-old Flat-coated Retriever mix is currently at the BGWC Humane Society after spending some time as a stray. As a result, he’s a little shocked by everything he sees. Though he wants to make friends with everybody and greets new people with enthusiasm, he gets scared when new dogs approach him, even if they’re tiny little Chihuahuas and he tends to roll over fearfully whenever he thinks people are not happy with him. He also doesn’t seem to be used to leashes, as he starts panicking and whining every time he feels it tug him.
However, Farlo is a really smart dog and learns to adapt to new things quickly. When I took him for a 15 or 20 minute walk this weekend, he went from being very scared of the leash, clawing desperately at it and trying to wiggle out of it, to being completely comfortable with it, to the point where he was running around and playing as if it weren’t even there. This means that even though he has some phobias, with a little attention and love he can learn to move past them very quickly. Hopefully, once he gets a new family, they can teach him the basics of being a pet and he will be carefree in no time.
If you want to help Farlo find his way to a new home, please consider adopting, fostering, or sponsoring him through his Petfinder.com page. As always, you can even help by just telling people about this sweet and playful little guy.
