Roxy
Week of 2/25/16
Winter is a harsh time to be outside, something that Roxy learned the hard way.
Probably abandoned by her former owners, Roxy was left to wander the streets in the freezing February weather. Eventually, she found her way to a kind woman’s porch, but by then she had become emaciated and covered in frostbite.
Every year, hundreds of pets are left out in the cold in dog houses or on tie-out posts. However, though dogs like to go out and play in the snow every now and then, the outdoors is no place for any pet when it gets to be 20 degrees and snowy. Additionally, many homeless animals have no choice but to live outside and will eventually die of the cold.
Fortunately for Roxy, her story ended happily. The woman generously took her in, and shortly afterwards she spent some nights at a nice foster home where she was taken very good care of before being surrendered to the Humane Society. However, it was very clear that they were the first kind people she had encountered.
Roxy is a favorite with the Humane Society staff because she is a lovable sweetheart. She is also very outgoing and loves to meet new people, and can’t resist a good hug.
Please spread the word about Roxy, or even consider adopting her from her Petfinder.com page, so that this golden-hearted girl can finally be in a warm, loving home where she never has to worry about freezing again.
