Francis
Week of 1/18/16
Francis is a stray who became a movie star.
This week, I filmed a short film for the International Silent Film Festival with a couple other Greenwood students, and since the video involved shelter dogs, we decided to film the entire thing on location at the BGWC Humane Society, starring one of the adoptable dogs. We screened the dogs very carefully and eventually arrived at Francis.
Francis is an older dog, probably 8 or 9 years old, though no one is sure of her exact age. She is a Dachshund mix who came to the Humane Society as a stray, which is an especially hard life at this time of the year. The shelter workers had hoped that her family would come looking for her, but they had no such luck.
However, Francis is a very resilient girl, which is evident from the fact that she was still going strong after two hours of filming in the cold. Though she can get frightened easily and she is physically very thin and weak, she will face any challenge with dignity if she is asked to. Despite this inner toughness, she is very gentle and sweet with people. She loves being held and petted, and all she wants is for someone to take her home and give her some love. In fact, when filming a scene where she had to sit in the passenger seat of a car while one of the human actors was behind the wheel, she immediately climbed across the console, tail wagging emphatically, and curled up in the actor’s lap for a hug.
Francis is so well-behaved and she just wants to give all her love to a new family in a new home, so please consider adopting or fostering her, through her Petfinder.com page.
