Pet of the Week

March 2015

February 19, 2015

The Pet of the Week section highlights one dog, cat, hamster, horse, chimera, etc. each week. Many are up for adoption at the Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society, and some have extraordinary talents or have made significant impacts on the community. But most importantly of all; they’re all adorable!

**NEWEST ENTRIES ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE**

(See our previous Pet of the Week sections to check up on past pets of the week!)

Hint: Hover over the “Pet of the Week” button in the top right corner to open a Jump To menu to each section.

Mia

Week of 3/2/15

2015-14-3 Mia (4) (1280x852)

Mia is a senior Husky and Cattle Dog mix at the Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society. If you saw my earlier article from February 9th about Cooper, you probably recognize this gal. Cooper and Mia are best friends, so they must be adopted together. They are both older dogs, 10 and 11 years old, and they are just the nicest dogs.

Mia is very calm, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t like to play. She enjoys cuddling and being pet, and even some activity, so she would be a great friend for an older person or couple. She is a big, fluffy dog, the perfect buddy to snuggle up with if you’ve been having a bad day, and her warm smile lets you know that you always have a friend.

Cooper and Mia have been sponsored, so their adoption fee is now $40 for the pair. However, they still need a home and a family, so please consider adopting or fostering this lovely pair!

Cooper and Mia have been adopted! Yay!

Jupiter

Week of 3/9/15

Jupiter (1)
Jupiter is enjoying a quiet sit on the shelter ground, when he sees another dog to play with.

Jupiter is out of this world sweet!

This senior Beagle is as lovable as a dog can be. When he was transferred to the BGWC Humane Society from another area shelter, he was in very poor condition. He was extremely underweight and had intestinal parasites, a dangerous pair for a dog his age. Thankfully, the Humane Society staff are nursing him back to health, and he has reached a more healthy weight of 20 pounds.

Although the Humane Society workers approximate he is at least ten years old, Jupiter still has a young personality. He is a very patient dog, so one of his favorite activities is sitting on a person’s lap and being pet. However, when the opportunity to play comes his way, he would be the last dog to pass it up. He is very good with other dogs and children, unless they are rough players because he is very frail, and he even gets along with cats.

This sweet senior dog needs a home! Please consider adopting, fostering, or sponsoring Jupiter by visiting his Petfinder page here.

Jupiter has been adopted by a generous, caring family, and is settling down in his new home!

TJ, Josh, and Browning: The Beagle Brothers

Week of 3/16/15

TJ, Josh, and Browning are the Beagle Brothers.
(From left) Josh, TJ, and Browning are the Beagle Brothers.

Don’t let their cute faces fool you–TJ, Josh, and Browning are a lovable bunch of old-timers.

At twelve years old each, this trio of Beagle buddies are a bit on in years, but they don’t let that stop them from enjoying themselves. Each of them has a unique personality–TJ is friendly and young at heart; Josh is curious, with a love of exploring; and Browning is a playful little rascal.

These three guys are the best of friends; when one of them is missing, the other two will look for him until they find him. They were surrendered by their owner because they had gotten too old and weren’t as desirable as their younger housemates. Since they have likely spent their entire twelve years of life together, it would be best for them to all be adopted to the same home. As intimidating as it sounds to adopt three dogs at once, they are very calm and obedient, so they wouldn’t cause very much disruption at all.

If you have room in your home and your life for a trio of old rascals, please consider adopting or fostering TJ, Josh, and Browning. They have all been sponsored, meaning their adoption fees have been reduced. You can adopt the whole family for only $145!

Josh has been adopted! Unfortunately, the Beagle Brothers can’t all be together, as the other two are still looking for homes, but their fees are still reduced and TJ and Browning can be adopted together for only $110!

Double Feature: Pinky and Logan

Week of 3/30/15

Since I missed last week’s Pet of the Week update, this week we are having a double feature!

Pinky

Who could say no to those eyes? (Image from www.petfinder.com)

Pinky, a Black Lab mix at the BGWC Humane Society, is the sweetest dog you’ll find. Although she is shy and scared of people at first, she is quick to warm up to anyone who shows her some love. Her favorite activity is to just lie in the sunshine and get a good belly rub, or to rub up against the bars of her cage for someone to scratch her head. She never barks unless seriously provoked, and she is gentle on the leash, so that even a smaller person or child could walk her. Although she enjoys meeting new friends in the workers and volunteers of the Humane Society, what she really needs is a kind, devoted family that can show her why she deserves to be loved.

If you have room in your life for the kindest, most well-behaved sweetheart in Kentucky, please consider adopting or fostering Pinky.

Pinky has been adopted! Thank you to her new owners for opening up your home to this amazing dog!

Logan

2015-3-22 Logan (1280x852)
Logan likes to move around, but it turns out he’s pretty photogenic as well.

Logan is a quite different dog than Pinky, even though they are both wonderful friends. Logan is a medium-small sized Beagle, and he’s the opposite of shy. He wants to be friends with anyone and everyone, and he has enough energy to play for days. Although he doesn’t always get along with dogs outside of his household, he has never met a person he didn’t like. He’s a funny little dog and a loyal friend, perfect for a single person or older family, although he could fit into a family with young children as well.

For anyone who’s looking for a lifelong friend who’s always ready to play, look no further than Logan. To adopt, foster, sponsor, or just learn more about Logan, visit his Petfinder page.
