Hilltoppers Drafted to the NFL

Three WKU Hilltoppers were selected in the 2016 NFL draft and two were signed as free agents, showing the strength of the program’s resurgence under Coach Jeff Brohm.

Quarterback Brandon Doughty, a Florida native, will return to his home state to play for the Dolphins. Miami selected him in the seventh round.

One of Doughty’s favorite targets, tight end Tyler Higbee, was the highest pick from the Hilltoppers. He will be headed west to play for the newly-relocated Los Angeles Rams.

Former walk-on Prince Charles Iworah continued his improvement, being drafted to play cornerback for the San Francisco 49ers. He was also drafted in the seventh round.

Former WKU basketball star George Fant signed with the Seahawks as a free agent, trying to follow in the footsteps of Chargers’ star and transition from power forward to tight end.

Also signed as a free agent was Jared Dangerfield, a wide receiver for the Hilltoppers who hopes to be catching balls from Drew Brees in New Orleans.
