Lorde’s Single Sparks Anticipation for a New Album

Lordes Single Sparks Anticipation for a New Album

By Halle Rudloff

After four years of silence, Lorde released a song titled “Green Light”. This upbeat song is already on its way to the top, and there are rumors of this song being just the beginning of an album to be released in the near future.

Many of Lorde’s fans were convinced she was not going to put out any new music after the success of “Pure Heroine”. An astonishing amount of the songs on her first album made a huge splash in the industry. “Royals”, her first hit song, spent weeks on the top charts in many countries along with the U.S. “Team”, another hit from the album, also spent a substantial amount of time playing on hundreds of radio stations across the globe. It’s safe to say “Pure Heroine” was a hit.

Lorde made a comment to the fans that were doubtful of her career saying, “Give up on me if you want to!, I’m an artist, I write a record when I have enough special stories to tell, and It’s all me, every melody, every lyric, not some team who just starts the machine every eighteen months like clockwork. The record is written, we’re in the production stages now. I’ve worked like a dog for a year making this thing great for you guys.” The release of her single on March 3rd was the first sign of her sophomore album. Lorde is expected to appear at countless music festivals this summer such as, Bonnaroo, Coachella, Governors ball, and Lollapalooza. This gives the impression that the highly anticipated album could fall into an electronic category. Regardless, the album is sure to be something new and interesting.                                                                                                                                                                                                                          .
