Weekly Baseball

Tuesday May third Greenwood hosted Butler County at home, were the gators got  a much needed win. Sophomore Nate Cunningham started off pitching for Greenwood and was caught by his brother Ty Cunningham. Greenwood struggled with batting at first but it soon turned around after Tanner South ripped a hit by third base. With bases loaded freshman Conner Cline blasted a hit by 2nd base allowing Greenwood our first two runs,  Tanner Maple brought in the third run. The Final score was 3-2 in Our favor and giving our team a much needed confidence booster.

On Wednesday May fifth Greenwood played a non- conference game at home against Trinity. The game was a slow groggy game, but Greenwood came out with the win adding to their winning streak this week. Jack Blair hit one RBI for Greenwood and Hunter Stone had a pitching average of .115%. Final score was 1-0 in Greenwood’s favor.

On May sixth the boys traveled too Russellville to play a non-conference game. The boys fought back at the end but didn’t quit finish the deal loosing by one. Russellville started strong scoring three runs in the third inning, then Greenwood fought back. The final score was 4-5 in Russellville’s favor. John Hicks and Conner Cline both hit two RBI’s each and Sophomore Parker Farley struck out four batters.

Greenwood takes on district rivals Bowling Green next.
