Faculty Baby Boom

There is a lot of excitement traveling around the school right now because there are quite a few babies being born to the Greenwood faculty members.

Mr. Dillingham has already welcomed his little girl into the world. Mrs. Cassady is expecting her baby to come in a little under three months. We were able to sit down with both these teachers and talk to them about their experiences welcoming/getting ready to welcome these little lives into the world.

When talking to Mrs. Cassady we learned that she will be welcoming a little girl very soon, she has decided to name her Willow Parker. When asked what the most exciting part about having a baby was, she responded, “ Everything, I’m excited to know what she looks like and what kind of personality she will have, and I’m especially excited to have a little me. Also, my husband becoming a father, I know he will be the best dad ever.”

We then asked her what the scariest thing about having a baby is and she said, “Again, everything. Everything I’m excited about, everything I’m scared about. I live a fast-paced life and I want to make sure Willow gets everything she needs in life.” Mrs. Cassady also told us her husband likes to give Willow a voice and for some reason she is always sassy. (It’s actually pretty funny.)

Next, we sat down with Mr. Dillingham and he told us that his baby girl, Liza James, was born on Valentine’s Day, which is actually the day after his wife’s birthday. We asked him what the most exciting thing about being a father is and he said, “The blessing of being able to love someone and watch them grow up so much even in a matter of days and the opportunity me and my wife have to be able to have a family.”

He felt that the scariest part was “the unknown and responsibility it is my greatest calling and a very weighty endeavor.” Since his baby is already born, we asked him if there is any special moment he’s had with his baby that he will always remember, “The first time we made eye contact and the first time I held her.”

After interviewing these teachers, it is clear to see that having a baby is truly a miracle. Mrs. Cassady is looking forward to having her own “little me’ and so far, Mr. Dillingham is enjoying his experience as a father.
