Greenwood artists honored

Greenwood senior NaTassja Jackson won the prestigious Evelyn Law Young Aspiring Artist Award at the Scottsville Summer’s End Art show for her portrait of fellow artist Cierra Harrod.

Several other Greenwood artists were honored at the show, which took place on September 25th, and was sponsored by the Scottsville Art Guild.

Among the participants, other Greenwood artists who participated included Keiko Nishijima, Ilmira Mirzayeva, Ciera Harrod, and Christian McDaniel.

Freshman Keiko Nishijima placed first with her piece, “Colorful Leaves.”

Junior IImira Mirzayeva placed 3rd with her piece, “Shy.”

Seniors Ciera Harrod and Christian McDaniel won Honorable Mentions for their pieces “Come Apart” and “Toyota Camry,” respectively.

Greenwood’s Art teacher, Mrs. Soule, was also recognized. She won second place for her Professional Miniature titled “Red Poppy,” and second for her oil painting, “Misty Morning in the Woods.”

The show was judged by Tim Smith, a Professor of Art at Lindsey Wilson College, who earned his MFA from the University of Mississippi.
